- Not so much a case of bad experiences - more a case of people who end up writing
- GEM applications end up spending more time on the GEM side of things than they
- do on the program design. This way (custom interface) you have to consider design
- at every stage or you can't do a thing! :)
-
- I just prefer to work this way - 'I think I'll add this, or make that do this'...
- and not this way - 'how do I get GEM to do this? Maybe I can do a workaround?'...
-
- Do you follow me? It's just a different view.

-
- ESCpaint is a clever idea - if I was to to a GEM program of this kind then I'd
- probably think along these lines.
-
- But bear the following in mind:
-
- a) FWT is a quick hack, identical to the PC DOS version. It's not a real product.
- b) Apex v2 is not really that advanced. It's just quick and 'sensible' in design.
-
- Apex v3 will be quick, sensible and very advanced too. It will keep the speed and
- style of Apex v2, but utilises a new super-quick truecolour windowing interface
- which can be adapted quickly for any video card using truecolour. It will allow
- any canvas size and any screen resolution - virtual or otherwise. It does not
- look the least bit custom. At first glance, it looks like GEM on an SGI with a
- facelift (or at least, that's my goal - you'll have to judge for yourself).
-
- I am still working on some core components, but I might be able to send you
- a demo of the interface before too long. But you'll need to give me some space
- to clean things up and so on - in other words, don't ask me when it's going to
- be ready in every email from now on - I'll definitely tell you when I am ready. :)
-
- > So when is Apex 3 hitting me in the head? :-)
-
- I still have quite a bit of work to do, but it is looking good.

- I need to keep away from BM for a while, as it is too much of a distraction. :)

-
- I made a big room with a scorpion on the floor. Unfortunately, I got the scale
- a bit out of whack and you can fit inside one of it's claws. :)
-
- > You can't jsut tell me roughly when Apex 3 will be ready?
-
- I can't because I really don't know. I don't have a schedule, and to be honest,
- I don't want one either. That's what led to Apex v2 being rushed out. :I

- Magic 5 sounds nice - but I'm surprised they are developing it for the Falcon? I
- thought those guys had moved on?
